lyrics

MODERN CLOWN

I go mad
when I think of things I cannot understand
The chasm's vast
between the knowledge and the little that I grasp
I lose focus
and I drift off
Far away...

...and dancing bears are dancing there
And ladies flying through the air
Motorcycles whirl around
And I am just an Olde Tyme clown

I hear my name
Nosey neighbor rapping on my window pane
Through the haze
Turn over put the pillow on my face
Bellows in the backyard
"I know you're in there..."
The door swings open

And there are no bears dancing there
No ladies flying through the air
No motorcycles whirling 'round
Seems I'm just a modern clown...
Standing there
In my robe and underwear
Your worst suburban nightmare
And I need to mow my lawn

I get mad
When I think of things I cannot understand
Hold my head in my hands
So sad that all I do is laugh
Overwhelms me
And I drift off
Far away
